William P. Puryear began his practice in 1963 in what was known then as the Third National Bank Building in Nashville, Tennessee.  His practice was built around auditing, personal financial planning, and tax. 

Within the next twenty years, three experienced professionals, James E. Hamilton, Jeffrey J. Hausman, and Ronald T. Wood joined William Puryear & Co.  These men brought with them diverse fields of experience, including areas of compliance and planning services for non-profit clients, oil and gas entities, multi-state home health care companies, government audits, financial analysis, and special procedures reviews, as well as finance and personal management advisory services.

Presently Puryear, Hamilton, Hausman, & Wood, PLC has four administrative employees and 23 professional accountants and IT consultants.   In November 2008, the firm moved its new office at 1000 Corporate Centre Drive, Suite 200 Franklin, Tennessee 37067.
